How to add a contact:

Begin adding a contact by opening the app and clicking on the “chats” button at the bottom of your screen. Once your screen looks like this hit the button highlighted by the black square in the top right of the screen.

Once you have hit the button a new screen will come up. Press the blue “New Contact” button at the top of your screen, this will take you to the page where you add your contacts details in.

Using your keypad at the bottom type in the number you want to save the contact under, it will automatically go to New Zealands “+64” if you need to change this for an international contact you just need to tap onto the “+64” in black and it will open a list in which you are able to choose which country code you want for the contact. After adding in the number you have the choice to add the contacts first and last name. Add first name by clicking the “First name” in grey near the top of your screen, you can now write their first name. After that repeat with the box below labelled “Last name” When you have finished these steps you can press the now blue “Save” button in the top right. This will save your contact and you will be done!

How to message somebody:

To begin messaging someone start by opening the app and clicking on the “chats” button at the bottom of your screen. Once your screen looks like this hit the button highlighted by the black square in the top right of the screen.

Once you have pushed the button a screen is going to come up with your current whatsapp contacts. If you choose to text one of your existing whats app contacts scroll through your contact list and press down on their name to open a conversation with them. If you wish to message a new non-contact read above in section “How to add a contact” earlier in this how-to guide. Once you press on their name you are free to send them a text as normal.

How to call somebody

To begin calling someone start by opening the app and clicking on the “Calls” button at the bottom of your screen. Once your screen looks like this hit the button highlighted by the black square in the top right of the screen.

If the person you want to call is already on your WhatsApp contacts then you will need to scroll until you find their name. I If you wish to call a new non-contact read above in section “How to add a contact” earlier in this how-to guide. Once you find their name you have the cellphone symbol and the video camera symbol. If you wish to phone call them then press the blue phone symbol on the right side of their name. If you wish to video chat with them, then press the blue camera on the far right of their name.
