2, After clicking the link you will receive a pop up which will look like this. Using this image select the “Open in app store” button which will redirect you to a new page.

3, Arriving now at the App store press the blue “Get” button next to . This button will start the process of you downloading the application onto your device.

4, After pressing the button you will receive a pop up on your screen asking you if you want to install. To install press the blue “Install” button near the bottom middle of your screen. Once you have done this you will need to put in a password to your apple account, you are going to want to use the password that you registered to your device when you first downloaded an application.

5, When you are done typing your password into the box then you can press the ‘Sign in’ button. This will finalise the installation of the application onto your device. If you receive any errors during this process repeat steps 3-4 until it is successful.

6, Return to your home page and locate the application on your screen. The application will be named ‘WhatsApp’ and will the image below as the picture. Wait a few minutes then press on the application to open it up.

7, When you have opened up the application WhatsApp will ask you to agree to their privacy policy and terms of service, to use this app press the blue ‘Agree & Continue’.  WhatsApp has assured its users that this is safe to do.

8, You will now receive a pop-up on your screen asking if you will like to receive push notifications. This means when someone messages or calls you on WhatsApp you will receive a small sound alert and pop up on your phone to let you know you have received a message or are being called. If you wish to receive call and text notifications press the blue ‘Allow’ button. If not, press the ‘Don’t Allow’ button.

9, Now you will enter your mobile phone number on the number pad at the bottom of your screen. When you have entered your phone number and you can see it is correct on your screen press the blue ‘Done’ button in the top right of the screen.

10, If this screen pops up it is asking if you would like to restore your old chats before you deleted the app. (This will not happen for everyone so if this screen didn’t pop up you can move onto step 11.) If you wish to get your old chatting history back with your contacts you can click the blue ‘Restore’ button in the top right corner. If you want to skip and start fresh you can select the blue button ‘Skip’ in the top left hand corner.

Here is where you can choose the name and picture that the people you contact will see. Start by tapping the text box and entering the name you wish (Real names work best). After you put in your chosen name you have the choice to also add a picture to your account. Begin by tapping the blue “add photo” within the circle in the top left.

IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO ADD A PHOTO SKIP TO STEP 14.

If you want to add a photo after pressing the blue “add photo” button you will have a pop up on the bottom of your screen with “Take Photo” and “Choose Photo”. If you wish to take a photo RIGHT NOW you can press the blue “Take Photo” button and take a photo of what you wish. If you want to choose a photo that you have already taken in the past then press the “Choose Photo” button instead.

Once you have the picture, you are able to crop it into a circular shape by moving the photo around the screen with your finger. Pinching the screen in will zoom the photo out and pinching the screen out will zoom it in. Use these until your picture is cropped within the circle to your liking. To finalise your choice press the “Choose” button in the bottom right.

Once you have completed all the steps above you will be able to use the app fully. If you wish to add your contacts into WhatsApp (Recommended) which adds all your current contacts into WhatsApp so you don’t have too. If you wish too then click the blue “Ok” button located in the middle of your screen or the “Don’t Allow” button if you don’t want to add your current contacts on WhatsApp.
